Methodology

Scope

The directory covers the Western Bay of Plenty from Katikati to Te Puke, including Omokoroa, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa. Google Maps searches near suburbs also returned clinics from other regions; those were removed by checking each clinic's coordinates against a bounding box for the area.

Sources

• Google Maps public listings, read without signing in and dated 2026-09-30: name, address, phone, website, category, rating, review count and accessibility labels. A listing is used only when the Google place name matches the clinic being listed.
• The public website of a clinic, only when that website belongs to a single listing, with robots.txt respected. Websites shared by several branches are not used to describe any one branch.
• Stats NZ Statistical Area 2 2023 boundaries, to assign each clinic to an area from its own coordinates.

Merging listings

Google Maps returned 85 records in scope. 16 were folded into another record because they describe the same practice (the same phone number and address, or a practitioner listed under a clinic), and 1 was removed because Google shows it as permanently closed. 68 listings remain. Merged records are not shown as separate pages.

Areas

Each clinic is placed in an area from its coordinates, never from the search that found it. The statistical areas were grouped into 6 areas for this directory.

Ratings

Ratings and review counts are Google's, shown with the date they were read. Review text is never shown. Lists are sorted alphabetically, not by rating. A rating based on fewer than 10 reviews carries a note saying so. Public services show no rating.

Services

A service appears on a listing only when the clinic's own single-clinic website mentions it. The listing states where that information comes from. A missing service means it was not found on that website, not that it is unavailable.

How a listing is included

A business is listed when its Google Maps category or name shows it is a dental practice or a related dental provider and its coordinates fall inside the Western Bay of Plenty. Pharmacies, veterinary clinics, dental suppliers and listings outside the area are removed. A listing that Google shows as permanently closed is removed. Listings that describe the same practice are merged. No clinic has paid for placement, and this directory does not vouch for any clinic.

Professional status

This directory does not check any practitioner against the regulator’s public register and does not publish qualifications, memberships or badges. The category on a listing is Google’s category, not a professional title. This directory does not describe any individual as a dentist, orthodontist or other titled practitioner: where such a word appears it is part of a business name or is Google’s category label. To check a practitioner, use the regulator’s public register. This directory links to it and does not copy from it.

Charges

This directory lists no dollar amounts and no ranges of charges. Health NZ says:

“It is important to remember that there is no fixed fee or recommended fee structure for private dentists.”

“If you need major work done, your dentist may work out a treatment plan for you.”

Ask the clinic directly for what a treatment involves and what it will charge.

Reviews

This directory does not host, collect or publish reviews or patient stories. The star rating and review count on a listing are Google’s, shown with the date they were read. Review text is not shown.

What is left out

The directory publishes no dollar amounts, opening times, patient stories, review text, photographs, staff credentials, partnerships or badges. It shows nothing that implies a regulator has checked a clinic. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Dental Council of New Zealand, Health NZ or any clinic.

Freshness and corrections

Every page shows the date its data was checked. Ratings older than 180 days are hidden by the build. To correct or remove a listing, use the claim or correct route.
